Wainwright Appointed to Atlantic States Fisheries Commission
Rep. William Wainwright (D-Craven) has been appointed to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. For the past several years Wainwright has served as co-chair of the state's Joint Legislative Commission on Seafood and Aquaculture. The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission was formed by the fifteen Atlantic coast states (Maine through Florida, including Pennsylvania) in 1942 to assist in managing and conserving their shared coastal fishery resources. The states have found that their mutual interest in sustaining healthy coastal fishery resources is best achieved by working cooperatively and collaboratively with the federal government. Through this approach, the states uphold their collective fisheries management responsibilities in a cost-effective, timely, and responsive fashion.
